A message from Archbishop Desrochers Following the Death of Pope Francis

Dear faithful of our archdiocese,

Pope Francis' funeral will take place next Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Rome time. Given that this falls on the weekend, and knowing that your priests already have a busy schedule during this period, I would simply ask the priests to commemorate the death of the Holy Father during their Sunday Masses and to kindly read the text (click here) that I have sent them personally, either during the homily or at the end of the Mass, followed by the special prayer that Rome has sent to the bishops of the whole world so that the faithful can recite it in these days of mourning. Here is the text of the prayer:

" Prayer upon the Death of Pope Francis"

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

℟. And let perpetual light shine upon him.

O God, faithful rewarder of souls,

grant that your departed servant Pope Francis, whom you made successor of Peter and shepherd of your Church, may happily enjoy for ever in your presence in heaven the mysteries of your grace and compassion, which he faithfully ministered on earth.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
