A message from Archbishop Desrochers Following the Death of Pope Francis
Dear faithful of our archdiocese, Pope Francis' funeral will take place next Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Rome time. Given that this falls on the weekend, and knowing that your priests already have a busy schedule during this period, I would simply ask the priests to commemorate the death of the Holy Father during their Sunday Masses and to kindly read the text (click here) that I have sent them personally, either during the homily or at the end of the Mass, followed by the special prayer that Rome has sent to the bishops of the whole world so that the faithful can recite it in these days of mourning. Here is the text of the prayer: " Prayer upon the Death of Pope Francis" Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. ℟. And let perpetual light shine upon him. O God, faithful rewarder of souls, grant that your departed servant Pope Francis, whom you made successor of Peter and shepherd of your Church, may happily enjoy for ever in your presence in heaven the mysteries of your grace and compassion, which he faithfully ministered on earth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. ℟. Amen.

A time of sharing for our young people in catechism
PONTIFICAL MISSIONARY WORKS We are sharing a message we received from the Montreal office of the Pontifical Mission Societies, which appeared in the March 2025 Mond’Ami brochure: A Time of Sharing for the Diocese of Moncton Every year in the Diocese of Moncton, families participating in catechism classes are deeply involved in the Sharing Project offered by Mond’Ami. In January, children aged 6 to 12 take home their piggy banks, ordered from Mond’Ami. This year, they ordered over a thousand. What is their mission? …to raise awareness among their loved ones, especially during the six weeks of Lent, about the plight of vulnerable children around the world, reports the diocesan coordinator of catechesis, Ms. Diane Léger. We would therefore like to thank the parents, catechists, and everyone who contributed to this wonderful project! Armand and Gladys LeBlanc, Diocesan Co-Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies

PASTORAL LETTER re. The diocesan evangelization project and the reform of parish structures
PASTORAL LETTER The Diocesan Evangelization Project and the Reform of Parish Structures Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As you are already aware, one of the first initiatives I undertook upon my arrival in the archdiocese—once the debt that had weighed upon our shoulders for many years was finally repaid at the end of 2023—was to commission a professional firm of building assessors. Over the course of two years, they will conduct a thorough evaluation of all our churches and buildings throughout the archdiocese to determine their true and current state of structural integrity. Why embark on such an endeavor even before developing a plan for evangelization or spiritual renewal within our parishes? First and foremost (…) the continuance of this letter can be found by clicking HERE

Discovering the Archdiocese of Moncton: A Pillar of Faith in Acadia
Located in the heart of New Brunswick, the Archdiocese of Moncton plays a central role in the spiritual life of thousands of Acadian and francophone Catholics. Established in 1936, it is one of the most important religious centers in Eastern Canada, encompassing several parishes across the regions of Moncton, Dieppe, Shediac, and Memramcook. The archdiocese is known not only for its pastoral mission but also for its active involvement in the wider community. It contributes to education, youth ministry, social justice initiatives, and interfaith dialogue. Through various services and outreach programs, it aims to respond to the spiritual and human needs of its people in a rapidly changing world. Under the leadership of Archbishop Guy Desrochers, the Archdiocese of Moncton promotes a welcoming, open Church rooted in Gospel values. It encourages lay participation, pastoral innovation, and inclusivity—especially in embracing people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Iconic churches such as Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral — a jewel of Acadian religious heritage — stand as witnesses to the vibrant history of Catholic faith in the region. With its impressive architecture and cultural significance, the cathedral reflects the deep spiritual roots of the Acadian people. In times of social and cultural transformation, the Archdiocese of Moncton seeks to be a beacon of hope, dialogue, and solidarity. It invites everyone to grow in faith, serve others, and build communities grounded in love, justice, and peace.
