History
Established around 1840
First church: 1946
First parish priest: 1946
In August 1939, construction began on the Moncton airport. The war broke out that same year, and National Defence built a training camp. The government also built 200 houses. This area was then named "Lakeburn."
The idea of a church for the new residents, as well as for the long-time residents of the area who commuted to Scoudouc, Dieppe, or Saint-Anselme, arose.
On January 13, 1946, Bishop Norbert Robichaud blessed the church, dedicating it to Our Lady of Loreto, patron saint of aviators. A parish priest was appointed that same year.
In 1973, this community was merged with Dieppe.
Due to the decline in religious practice, the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette parish is ending its worship activities on October 7, 2018.
