Special Collection Toward Restoration of our Diocesan Financial Health

    August 15, 2024
    Dear parishioners,
Our Diocese of Moncton is holding, through all of its Catholic parishes, a special annual collection on November 2 and 3, 2024, under the banner REBUILD … TOGETHER.
We are sending you this message as an introduction and explanation. You will remember that in his letter to the parishes last May, Archbishop Guy Desrochers explained that the Archdiocese of Moncton had narrowly avoided bankruptcy thanks to the generous donations of several organizations outside our diocese. However, for the archdiocese to continue to operate and rebuild its assets, we need your help now to move toward financial recovery. Our projected budget for 2024 anticipates a deficit of $311,000.00.
The archdiocese offers many services to the parishes, including liturgy, catechism, pastoral care (chaplains) in hospitals, adult faith education, youth education and summer camps, assistance to parishes and priests, partnerships with parishes on property management, management of insurance and claims, tribunal and chancery services, and the list goes on.
In addition, let us never forget that our Church is always there when you need its services: baptism, confirmation, Anointing of the Sick and special visits, funerals and wakes.
Our archdiocese has a number of full-time and part-time employees to meet everyone's needs and provide services to all. Over the past few months, we have made great progress in rebuilding and putting in place the structures needed to improve the administrative and financial structures which, in our view, require either remedial action, an update, or the implementation of new structures or policies where none existed. To achieve our objectives, money is needed.
The financial contribution of the faithful of the diocese is important. Let us be generous so that our Church can continue to shine and to be strong. As always, we are counting on your positive response... each according to his or her means.
We would be grateful if you would agree to share this information with as many people as possible, paying special attention to people who are less regular or distant for all sorts of reasons, including your business partners.
We thought that this information would help you understand and support the special COLLECTION of the Diocese of Moncton on November 2 and 3, 2024.
We thank you in advance for your generous consideration of this diocesan collection.
    We remain,
