Closure of St. Louis-de-France Parish Church

Saint-Louis-de-France Parish – On Sunday, February 4, at its last annual meeting, the members present of the Saint-Louis-de-France Christian community unanimously approved, by a show of hands, the decision to close their parish church. The closure will take place on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. This decision is due to a lack of financial resources, a shortage of volunteers, and the absence of active parishioners at our Sunday services. Given the current situation, we are being asked to maintain fewer material possessions and invest more in building relationships with other Christian communities. One cannot leave one's church without acknowledging all the work accomplished over the years since its founding. With the decrease and aging of our committed parishioners, it has been necessary to redouble our efforts to keep the church open until today. I want to express my gratitude to all those who, for many years, have generously shared their talents, their time, and their hearts to keep the Saint-Louis-de-France Christian community alive. Thank you for your extra hours in your many commitments. I hope that together we can come together in a new community where the joy of working hand in hand will allow us to continue to grow in our faith and in our love for Christ. An official closing Mass will be held on May 27, 2018, presided over by Bishop Valéry Vienneau.
