First Sunday of Advent: entry into force of the new Roman Missal in French

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT:
Entry into force of the new Roman Missal
The Roman Missal contains all the prayers, prefaces, and ritual dialogues that follow one another during Mass. With the change of the liturgical year, some prayers recited during Mass will be slightly different starting November 28, 2021. This is a new translation closer to the original Latin. It is an update of the new Roman Missal published in 1969, following the Second Vatican Council. It was already modified in 1975 and 2002. In the third version, which will come into effect on the first Sunday of Advent 2021, the aim is to offer a more accurate translation of the original Latin text. There will therefore be some modifications to the words spoken by the priest during the Mass or by the congregation. The new Roman missal also proposes a way of experiencing the liturgy by giving greater importance to silence and gestures.
However, our "Praying in Church" booklets will be delayed due to the new translation. It will not be available for the November and December 2021 celebrations. While awaiting the publication of the new translation, "Praying in Church" offers a short leaflet to help you follow the main changes in the dialogue between the priest and the congregation. You can read and print this leaflet by clicking here. For those who would like more details, you can consult a more complete summary of the changes at Mass by clicking here. The French diocese of Versailles offers a short booklet to follow the Mass, which you can download here.
